Privacy policy
Short version: Pooldex has no accounts, no ads, and no tracking. The website sets no cookies of its own (our host may set a security cookie in rare cases) and only counts visits in total, without cookies. Your calculator inputs stay in your browser, and the app keeps your pool data on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, where we can't see it.

Who we are and what this policy covers
This policy explains how Aliaksandr Rusinski, an individual developer ("we," "us") handles information in connection with the Pooldex website at pool-dex.com, including open.pool-dex.com (the page that hands a calculator result to the app), and the Pooldex app for iPhone. We do not sell personal information, we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as California law uses that term, and we do not use it for targeted ads.
Website: no accounts, no tracking cookies, cookieless visit counts
- No sign-up. You don't create an account, and we don't ask for your name, email, or location.
- No cookies from us. The site's own code sets no cookies. There are no ads, social media buttons, embedded videos, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting.
- Cookieless visit counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits: which pages are opened, how fast they load, the referring site, and the country and device type, as totals. It sets no cookies, doesn't build a profile of you, and doesn't follow you to other sites. It is not used for visitors from the European Union. See Cloudflare Web Analytics.
- Almost nothing loaded from other companies. Pages, styles, scripts, fonts, and data files come from our own domain; the only exception is Cloudflare's small visit-count script described above. Your browser contacts another company's website only if you click a link to it.
- Hosting. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and standard request data (the address requested, time, browser and device type, the page that linked to us) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. We don't run our own web server and don't keep access logs ourselves. Cloudflare's dashboard can show us traffic totals, such as the number of requests and the countries they come from; we don't use them to identify anyone. In rare cases, for example when Cloudflare has to check that a visitor is not a bot, it may set a strictly necessary security cookie that is not used for tracking.
Calculators: your inputs stay in your browser
- Every calculation runs in your browser. The numbers you type (pool size, test results, product strength) are not sent to us or anyone else.
- If you press "Remember my pool here", your pool size and products are saved in your browser's local storage on this device, so other calculators can fill them in. Your U.S./metric choice is saved the same way. Nothing is stored until you do one of these things, and you can remove it anytime by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
- When you change a calculator, the address bar may show your inputs after a "#" (for example
#fc=3&ph=7.6). Browsers don't send that part of the address to the server; it only lets you bookmark or share a result.
Sending a result to the app
The "Save to my pool in the app" button opens a link on open.pool-dex.com that carries only water numbers and settings from that calculator (such as volume, free chlorine, pH, and product type) and the name of the page you came from. It never contains your name, email, or location. If the app is installed, your iPhone opens it directly and the numbers are handled on the device. If not, your browser loads that page from our host, so the numbers travel in the web address as in any other link and are part of the request data our host receives.
Once the app is in the App Store, our links to it will include a short campaign code naming the page they are on, so that App Store Connect can show us how many downloads came from each page. Apple gives us these numbers only as totals.
App: your data stays on your device and in your iCloud
The Pooldex app for iPhone is not in the App Store yet. This section describes version 1.0 as it is being built; we will check it against the final build and the App Store privacy label before release.
| Information | Where it is kept | Can we see it? |
|---|---|---|
| Pools and hot tubs, test results, doses, your products and their label limits, notes, maintenance tasks | On your device and, if iCloud is on for Pooldex, in your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) | No. Your private iCloud data is controlled by your Apple Account, and we have no access to it |
| Reminders | Local notifications scheduled on your device | No. They are not sent from a server |
| Purchases | None in version 1.0, which is free. If Pooldex Plus goes on sale later, Apple will process purchases through the App Store | No payment details. The app will only receive confirmation from Apple that Pooldex Plus is active |
| Exports (CSV, PDF) | Created on your device | Only if you choose to send one to someone, including us |
| Crash reports and usage statistics | Collected by Apple, and only if you chose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings | Only as totals and crash reports that don't identify you. We use them to fix bugs |
- No account, no sign-in, no advertising, and no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting code in the app. We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- Version 1.0 does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, or camera. If a later version adds a feature that needs new data (for example local weather, or sharing a pool with your family), we will update this policy before that version is released.
- We don't use your data for profiling or for automated decisions about you.
When you email us
If you write to support@pool-dex.com, or use Settings › Send feedback in the app (it opens an email that you send yourself), we receive your email address, your message, and anything you attach, such as the last water test the app adds to a feedback email. You can read and remove the attachment before sending. We use this only to answer you and to fix problems. Mail to that address goes to a Gmail mailbox (Google) that we use only for Pooldex support; if the address is at our own domain, Cloudflare Email Routing forwards the mail there. We keep support emails for up to 24 months after the conversation ends, unless the law requires longer, and delete them sooner if you ask.
How we use and share information
We use the little information we receive to run and secure the site, answer support requests, fix problems, and comply with the law. We don't sell it, and we share it only:
- with service providers that help us run Pooldex: Cloudflare (website hosting and email routing) and Google (our support mailbox), under their own terms and privacy policies;
- with Apple, as needed for iCloud storage and App Store purchases, under Apple's terms and privacy policy;
- if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of people or of Pooldex;
- as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply.
Ads and affiliate links
The site and the app show no ads and contain no affiliate links today. If we add them, we will update this policy first, explain what data those partners receive, label affiliate links where they appear, and keep ads out of every calculator and its result.
Your choices and rights
- Website data on your device: clear this site's data in your browser settings to remove a saved pool and your unit choice.
- App data: delete entries in the app, or delete the app. To remove its iCloud data, open the Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud and its storage management screen, choose Pooldex and delete its data (menu names differ between iOS versions). To stop syncing, turn off iCloud for Pooldex.
- Notifications: turn them off in Settings › Notifications › Pooldex.
- Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: we don't track visitors across websites, so we treat every visit as if these signals were on.
- Access, correction and deletion: we hold no app data, so the only personal information we normally have about you is email you sent us. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know, access, correct, or delete it. Email support@pool-dex.com from the address you wrote from; we verify requests that way and answer within the time the law requires. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland
The controller of the information described here is the business named at the top of this policy (contact details at the end). We rely on legitimate interests to run and secure the site, and on your request when we answer your emails. You can ask to access, correct, erase, restrict, or port your information, object to its use, and complain to your local data protection authority. Our providers may process data outside your country; where the law requires it, they use approved safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children
Pooldex is for adults who look after a pool or hot tub: handling pool chemicals is an adult job. The site and app are not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has emailed us, write to support@pool-dex.com and we will delete the message.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. App data is protected by your iPhone's security and, if you use iCloud, by Apple's iCloud security. No storage or transmission method is perfectly secure, so protect your device with a passcode and keep your Apple Account secure.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top changes too. For material changes, we will say so on the site, and in the app once it is released, before they take effect.
